Lyrics

A song about PLACES AND PROPERTY-RESPECT
© 2007 Donald C. Elbreg

Keep your room at home in tip-top shape,
put your toys and games where they go.
Please make your bed, pick up your shoes,
and put away your clothes.

Keep your desks and cubbies tidy at school,
and hang your coat upon its rack.
Please push in your chair when it’s time to leave,
and put the books you borrowed back.

A good way to show respect,
is to respect what others own.
This can be a helpful hint,
for now and when you’re grown.

It’s important to be mindful
of all the places you may go,
to keep them clean and in good order,
so they’ll sparkle, shine, and glow.

It’s respectful to be thankful
when your friends are kind and share,
and to return the things they let you borrow,
after treating them with care.

It’s also good to be forgiving
if something gets broken or lost,
because the worth of a friend is much more than a toy,
no matter what the cost.

A good way to show respect,
is to respect what others own.
This can be a helpful hint,
for now and when you’re grown.

It’s important to be mindful
of all the places you may go,
to keep them clean and in good order,
so they’ll sparkle, shine, and glow.

Please don’t be discouraged
when others don’t act in these ways,
but set for them a good example
each and every day.

Remember that no one person is perfect,
only he or she can try to be,
but one of the best ways to get there
is to respect all places and property.

A good way to show respect,
is to respect what others own.
This can be a helpful hint,
for now and when you’re grown.

It’s important to be mindful
of all the places you may go,
to keep them clean and in good order,
so they’ll sparkle, shine, and glow.

So they’ll sparkle, shine, and glow.
